Drinking tea can offer your body a lot of benefits, from helping you lose weight to preventing you from chronic diseases, so what happens to your body when you drink tea daily?

In a report published by the American magazine “Eat This Not That”, writer Kirsten Hickman reviewed the benefits of drinking black and green tea on the immune system, using some different studies and research.

These are the benefits that you may get when drinking tea daily:

  • Reducing the risk of diseases such as diabetes and even cardiovascular diseases, as most types of tea contain polyphenols, and according to Harvard Health, polyphenol compounds can help reduce the risk of the aforementioned diseases.
Polyphenols are antioxidants that have also been shown to help reduce inflammation in the body.
  • Strengthening the immune system, as a study published in the “Current Pharmaceutical Design” magazine showed that polyphenols found in all types of tea, including black and green, work to enhance the immune system and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
According to a study published in the Journal of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, caffeine – found in tea and coffee – is an anti-inflammatory and can help boost the immune system.
It should be noted that the “immunogenic effects” mentioned in the study are based on normal human consumption. It has been scientifically proven that caffeine helps maintain health, but excessive consumption can cause some negative side effects.
  • Help control blood sugar levels. The plants from which some types of tea are made contain compounds that help reduce inflammation and control blood sugar levels, i.e. antidiabetic effects, according to a study published in Molecules.
  • Get more water that hydrates the body. The scientific journal Nutrition Research published a study indicating that lack of drinking water can lead to a deterioration in glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Drinking more tea is an easy way to increase your daily water intake and keep your blood sugar levels stable.
  • Help control your weight. Replacing any sugary drink with black tea or coffee is an easy way to cut calories and lose weight. Scientific data also show that green tea, in particular, has a role in helping to lose and control weight.
According to the results of a study published in the “Physiology & Behavior” journal, it was proven that green tea helped participants lose weight in a 12-week trial period, thanks to the increase in energy consumption and fat oxidation rates stimulated by the antioxidants in green tea.
