The hashtag “# Khamis_Mushait_orphans” topped the trend on the social networking site Twitter in Saudi Arabia, Wednesday, August 31, 2022, on the spread of video clips and pictures, which sparked wide interaction, from an incident that occurred inside the Khamis Mushait orphanage.
The video clip shows the entry of a number of masked people and a number of security men into the Social Education House in the Asir region, where a group of people assaulted, arrested and handcuffed the girls, according to the pictures circulated on social media.

Media reports indicated that the reason for the events in the Khamis Mushait orphanage was that the girls of the orphanage had claims for rights, and these claims were rejected by the orphanage administration, which prompted the girls to go on strike, which prompted the officials in the orphanage to seek help from the security authorities.

After the uproar caused by the video clips, Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, governor of the Asir region in Saudi Arabia, issued, on Wednesday, an order to form an investigation committee to find out what videos and pictures were circulated about an incident inside the Social Education Home for Khamis Mushait orphans.
