Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the government will start building homes for 270,000 families in cities and rural areas in 11 states affected by the earthquake disaster next month.
This came in statements, on Tuesday, after he visited a city of prefabricated houses, to shelter those affected by the earthquake in the Nordağı district of Gaziantep, southern Turkey, and was accompanied by the leader of the National Movement Party, Devlet Bahceli.
President Erdogan pointed out that the construction of 200,000 homes will start in the affected cities, including 18,544 in Gaziantep, next March.
He also pointed out that 9 thousand and 130 rural homes with their accessories will be built in the villages of Gaziantep.
He explained that the number of families benefiting from the homes that will be built next month, whether in cities or rural areas in 11 states in the earthquake zone, will reach about 270,000 families.
He pointed out that the numbers will be re-established in the coming months, according to assessments in the entire earthquake area.
President Erdogan affirmed the government’s determination to revive the city of Gaziantep again and in a stronger way, by preserving its historical identity and demographic composition.
On February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees, and the second 7.6 degrees, followed by thousands of violent aftershocks, which caused huge losses of lives and property in both countries.
