The head of the Turkish opposition Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, sent a message to the head of the regime, Bashar al-Assad, in which he consoled him for the victims of the earthquakes that struck the region.
In his message, Davutoglu said, “The catastrophe of the great earthquake that we witnessed on February 6 affected Syria and our country, and caused severe pain.”
He continued, “I visited the region 15 days ago, and I am trying to help my people, however, I would like you to know that we feel what our country has lost, as well as the neighboring Syrian people.”
He concluded by saying, “The pain we suffered once again showed that we and our neighbors are partners in our sorrows. We share the pain.”
He added, “Therefore, I take this opportunity to express my condolences to you and your people, and I hope that we will not share our sorrows in the future… but rather our hopes.”
