The Turkish General Administration of Immigration has made it possible for Syrian refugees to obtain an appointment to apply for “exceptional nationality” via the Internet.
According to what was published by the “Jisr Turk” website, Turkish immigration has added a new field to the system for booking appointments for updating temporary protection identity data, “Kemlik”, entitled “The Reason for the Appointment”.

The field includes 6 options: registering the residence address, transferring the “kimlik” restrictions to another state, obtaining a certificate of proof of marriage, voluntary return, updating personal data, and applying for the exceptional Turkish citizenship.
It is not yet clear whether the option to apply for exceptional citizenship is limited to candidates to obtain it, or whether it is available to all Syrians wishing to submit their applications.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish Immigration Directorate has recently updated the appointment booking website to update the “Kimlik” data, with the aim of addressing the monopoly of brokers and sparing Syrians the need for them.

It is expected that new decisions will be issued during the coming period that will grant life facilities to the Syrians, especially with regard to the renewal of residency and the requirement for the validity of the passport, according to what sources in the Syrian-Turkish joint committee confirmed after its meeting with the General Administration of Immigration.
