Turkey is one of the preferred destinations for many students wishing to complete their university studies outside the borders of their home countries, led by citizens of Arab countries.

Turkish universities are among the most prominent international universities known for their quality, good education, and high efficiency. Turkish universities are listed among the top 500 universities in the world.

The demand for Turkish scholarships increases dramatically annually, in all countries of the world, and about 168 thousand foreign university students from all countries of the world study in Turkish universities (public and private).

Among the most prominent privileges offered by Turkish scholarships to those wishing to complete their studies are the following:

1)- Free travel tickets from Türkiye to the home country of the foreign student.

2)- Tuition fees are free.

3)- Comprehensive health coverage.

4)- Free housing.

5)- A reduced-price transportation card.

6)- Free tickets to visit museums, tourist and historical places.

7)- Obtaining a student residence permit during the study period.

8)- Food meals at simple prices.

9)- Studying the Turkish language for a full year for free.

10)- A monthly allowance of 700 Turkish liras for bachelor’s students, 900 liras for master’s students, 1400 liras for doctoral students, and 3000 liras for research students.

The Scholarships Department in the Turkish government has identified a set of conditions that must be met by foreign students wishing to obtain Turkish university scholarships, as follows:

For undergraduate students:

1)- The applicant should not be Turkish, even by naturalization.

2)- He should not be more than 21 years old at the time of application.

3)- To obtain a total of at least 70% of the total points in the secondary school (baccalaureate). And at least 90% for those wishing to study medical and paramedical specializations.

4)- Not to have obtained a grant from any other party.

5)- That he has completed compulsory military service in his home country.

6)- To be of good conduct and not pose a threat to Turkish national security.

For master’s students:

1)- Not to have Turkish nationality, even through naturalization.

2)- He should not be more than 30 years old at the time of application.

3)- That his average in the bachelor’s degree (leave) is not less than 75% of the total points, or not less than 90% in case he wants to study in a medical or paramedical specialization.

4)- Not to have obtained a grant from any other party.

5)- That he has completed compulsory military service in his country.

6)- To be of good conduct and not pose a threat to Turkish national security.

For PhD students:

1)- Not to have Turkish nationality, even through naturalization.

2)- He should not be more than 35 years old at the time of application.

3)- The total score in the master’s degree should be more than 75% at least, and 90% if he wishes to join a medical or paramedical specialization.

4)- Not to have obtained a scholarship from any other party.

5)- That he has completed compulsory military service in his home country.

6)- To be of good conduct and not pose a threat to Turkish national security.

The required documents:

The required documents sometimes differ according to the course in which the student wishes to study, and according to the specialization. For example, the required documents differ from the bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral degree, and they are as follows:

For undergraduate students:

– High School certificate.

A recent, clear personal photo with a white background.

A valid passport (at least 6 months).

Examination of high school points (baccalaureate).

Certified copies of the passport.

A motivation letter stating your abilities and the reason for your desire to study in Turkey.

A recommendation document from an institution where you previously studied, for example (optional).

An international test certificate that you have passed (TOEFL, for example), if any. It is necessary if you choose to study English literature or another discipline taught in English.

For master’s students:

Graduation Certificate (Bachelor Certificate).

A valid passport (at least 6 months).

A recent, clear personal photo with a white background.

Statement of the points obtained in the bachelor’s degree course.

An academic recommendation from a university or one of the university professors with whom the candidate studied for the scholarship.

A motivation letter stating your abilities and the reason for your desire to study in Turkey.

An international test certificate that the candidate has passed (TOEFL, for example), if any. It is necessary if the student chooses to study English literature or another major taught in English.

For doctoral students wishing to complete their studies:

Graduation certificate (Master’s degree).

A valid passport (at least 6 months).

A recent, clear personal photo with a white background.

Statement of the points obtained in the master’s course.

An academic recommendation from a university or one of the university professors with whom the candidate studied for the scholarship.

A motivation letter stating your abilities and the reason for your desire to study in Turkey.

An international test certificate that you have passed (TOEFL, for example), if any. It is essential if you choose to study English literature or another discipline taught in English.

The application for Turkish scholarships is made through the application through the official website of the Turkish scholarships on the Internet, or through a person or a private institution, which is an authorized agent of Turkish universities.

Grant registration opens in January and ends in February.
