Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced their intention to operate the national aircraft carrier “TCG Anadolu” next Monday, and to hand it over to the country’s armed forces.
This came in a speech, on Saturday, during the inauguration of the Basaksehir-Kayasehir metro line project in Istanbul.
Erdogan praised the projects implemented by his country in recent years, citing the local electric car “Togg”, medical cities, and defense industries projects.
And he added, “On Monday, we will start, God willing, operating our national aircraft carrier (TCG Anadolu) and handing it over to our armed forces, in a ceremony that will be held in the Pendik district of Istanbul.”
With regard to the local electric car, Erdogan promised the people of his country that they would soon see it on the streets of other countries as well, after they saw it on the streets of Turkey.
He indicated that they would send a copy of it to Uzbek President Shavkat Mirzayev, after sending one to his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev.
In another context, Erdogan said that the length of the transportation network in Istanbul has reached about 324 km, and when the ongoing projects are completed, this number will exceed 380 km.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure implemented nearly half of these transport railways, accusing the Greater Istanbul Municipality of the opposition Republican People’s Party of inaction in this regard.
It is reported that “TCG Anadolu” is the largest warship manufactured with Turkish capabilities.
