
On Wednesday, media outlets revealed that the mayor of Istanbul Imamoglu borrowed 3.5 times more than the total municipal loans in 35 years during his term as mayor.
She said that the public debt of the municipality during Imamoglu’s presidency from 2019 to the end of 2022 amounted to 82 billion Turkish liras.
She added that the revenues of the municipality’s İSKİ and IETT companies amounted to 59 billion Turkish liras, while the expenditures amounted to 64 billion Turkish liras.
And she added that the public debt on the municipality until 2019 amounted to 28 billion, and it rose to 82 from 2019 to the end of 2022.
She indicated that the total expenditures of the Istanbul municipality in 2022 are 91 billion liras, and that 50 billion, 750 million liras came from the central administration in the 2022 budget.
