The Galata Bridge in the center of Istanbul witnesses a large and permanent presence of Turkish visitors and tourists every day.

It is possible for those standing at the top of the bridge to watch the active movement of ships that transport passengers between the Asian and European sides of the city, and to enjoy the panoramic view of a number of tourist places around it.

Thousands of people cross the bridge between the two banks of the Golden Horn every day, not just for the sake of crossing, but most of them enjoy the upper view that allows taking souvenir photos from multiple angles, through which the passerby can see the Bosphorus Bridge, the Hagia Sophia and the Galata Tower. And the “Fateh” “Sulaymaniyah” and “Al-Jadeed” mosques, as well as overlooking the “Uskudar” area and the “Al-Fatah” tower located on the Asian side of the city.

The bridge experienced major changes that occurred in Istanbul during the twentieth century.

The beginning of its construction was in 1845, when it was built to connect the regions of “Eminonu” and “Karakoy” with a wooden bridge, until the pedestrians increased on it, and it was built again at the beginning of the twentieth century.

The distinctive view of the bridge over the historical places made it one of the most important symbols of Istanbul.

Since its inception, the historic bridge has had its own status, known to everyone who lived in the city or who once crossed over it.

The bridge witnessed the last years of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Turkish Republic on April 14, 1912.

The first floor contains a chain of fish restaurants known for serving most of the seafood to its customers in a unique and unforgettable way.

As for the second floor, visitors can enjoy a charming view of the sea, by going up to it and watching the ships roaming the Bosphorus waters.
