Istanbul broke the tourism record for the last 33 months by hosting 1 million 402 thousand 366 foreign visitors in May.
According to the data of the Directorate of Culture and Tourism in Istanbul Governorate, the number of foreign tourists who visited the city in the first five months of this year reached 5 million 284 thousand 714. In May, 1 million 402 thousand 366 people visited Istanbul.
While 1 million 381 thousand 339 people came to the city by air in May, the number of those who visited the city by sea was 21 thousand 27.
In May, 1444 tourists came from Ataturk Airport, 373 thousand 527 tourists from Sabiha Gokcen, 1 million 6 thousand 368 tourists from Istanbul Airport, 15 thousand 986 tourists from Karakoy Port, 2000 87 tourists from Tuzla Port, and 997 from the port of Zeytinburnu, and 216 people. From Ambarli port, 600 from Haydarpasa port, 21 from Pendik port, 39 from Marmara port and 1081 from Sarayburnu port entered the city.
72.85% of foreigners who arrived by air used Istanbul Airport and 27.04% used Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
