Zvi Barrell, an Israeli analyst specializing in Arab affairs, predicted, in a report in the Haaretz newspaper, that Egypt would face a major crisis in meat prices, especially sheep meat, due to the current situation in Sudan.
He added, “Because of the generals’ war in Sudan, which is a major supplier of sheep to Egypt, it is expected that the country’s meat market will face a major crisis during the upcoming Eid al-Adha.”
The Israeli analyst explained that “the war in Sudan will be another factor affecting the Egyptian economy and the Egyptian government, which is hungry for dollars.”
Bariel pointed out that “Eid al-Adha, which coincides with the end of next June, will be difficult for the Egyptians, as the meat markets in Egypt are already boiling, as the price of lamb has increased by tens of percent in recent days, and butchers in Egypt are complaining of an acute shortage of meat supplies.” .
