The candidate for the presidential elections in Turkey, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, launched a “violent” attack on President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in the first official press conference after the preliminary results of the first round of the presidential elections appeared.

During the press conference held at the headquarters of the “Republican People’s Party” in the capital, Ankara, the candidate of the “Nation Alliance” revealed his intention to hold a meeting with Sinan Ogan, who received 5.17 percent of the vote in the first round of the presidential elections.

Kılıçdaroğlu said that the votes of the Justice and Development Party had eroded, considering that Erdogan had not succeeded in “deceiving” the Turkish people, referring to the failure to resolve the elections in the first round.

He added, “Our nation has given us a very effective message. Some of our citizens did not go to the polls, others voted reactively, and some reluctantly went to Erdogan. We have received your messages. We will do our best in 10 days.”

The High Elections Commission announced the date for the second round to decide the presidential race on May 28, as a result of none of the four candidates in the first round receiving 50% +1.

The candidate of the “People’s Alliance,” Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won 49.51 percent of the vote, while the candidate of the “Nation’s Alliance” Kilicdaroglu got the second highest percentage of the vote, at a rate of 44.88 percent.
